Started with beadhead prince nymph with a strike indicator. After the very first cast, I get an aggresive strike... on my bright orange strike indicator. Go figure...
After a couple of roll cast, I got this brown. The rod performed very well. Rollcasting on bamboo rod is surprisingly smooth. Requires less effort than graphite rod I thought.
Am I crazy or is this fish smiling?
I get yet another strike on my indicator, so I switch to orange stimulator, and I got this brown.
very pretty tiger. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteIt is a tiger right? Last time, I thought stocked brookies were tigers. ; )
ReplyDeleteI like this new fancy side of fishfinder. all this with a solid baseline fish finding foundation. we should get some matching pipes.
ReplyDeleteI also nomiate you Fishfinder for president of our club. We've never really had a president, I was just a operations guy running the site. Now I think we're ready to have a president, and fishfinder fits better than anyone.
GF, I respectfully decline your offer unless I get to collect yearly dues from all of you.

ReplyDeleteman I miss fishing and I miss you guys.

ReplyDeleteHay looks fancy! How do you like your 3wt bamboo rod? Let me know exactly how it is compare with standard rod? After I've seen Charles working on the bamboo, I almost got one from the local fly fishing show, but I decided to wait becasue I wanted to find the right one for me. And at the show I realized that there were a lot more bamboo makers than I thought out there.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I'm qualified to make a comparison between the rods as I am a newbie to the bamboo rod scene but what I experienced so far is that the bamboo is far more slow in action than any graphite rods I've used. It does cast and lift a fly delicately if you get the timing right. For someone like you and me who likes to swing smaller wt rods, I would recommend the bamboo rod in 2 to 3 wt but not for the performance as the word "performance" can be very subjective. I like the comparison Riley made who is an assistant to the rod maker. "a good graphite rod is like a Benelli Shotgun, it's modern technology helps to shoot faster with less recoil and a bamboo rod is like your grandfather's trusted side by side double barrel shotgun, works every time with punch and looks cool shooting it...."
