Dr. Shin's fall trip

Dr. Shin shared his photo from his trip close to his parent's resting place.  It's fall in Korea and Chuseok (autumn holidays) is just around the corner.  It's a time to gather with the family, celebrate the harvest, and also a time to visit ancestor's graves to take care of the grounds.  He did that and spent some alone time to fish.

  1. Hi guys,
I have enjoyed the articles on the website. I am stationed at Camp Humphreys near Pyeongtaek and am looking for some info on trout fishing in Korea. Can anyone send me some locations to try. I am willing to drive a few hours as it looks like it will be needed. I would love to meet up with some of you to show me the ropes and visit with fellow fishermen as well. Thanks for the help.

    Mike

  2. Thanks Mike. I sent you a reply through email, sorry about the delayed response. We haven't checked our emails in a (long) while and now we're just catching up. There are a lot of good places to fly fish, but most of the trout fishing is towards the eastern side (kang won do). I'll gather some info on some good trout spots. Since you're near Pyungtaek, there are some good bass fishing opportunities there. Type this location into google maps - 36.979227,126.522458) This area is good for bass fishing and you can rent boats with small trolling motor there for W50,000 all day. You can get a engine boat for W90,000. Or you can walk the shoreline on the other side of the bridge as well.

Let's stay in touch and try to get out sometime soon. It's a great season for trout fishing and we can fish up to about early Jan when everything freezes over.
