The first sighting of the creek nailed me in my track and helped me unwind.
I used to catch a lot more brookies in this stream than browns but it seems though browns are taking over the creek as the most of my catch are brown. I've noticed this throughout the last year as I spent a lot time on this creek. I'm not sure if this is the survival of the fittest but this is somewhat disturbing for me because this creek is the closest creek from my house that holds abundances of the native fish at least used to be...
Looks like a great time. Imagine catching them on the bamboo. Damn straight.
ReplyDeletenice catch. vary jealous. I know those browns will definitely out compete the brooks. however, browns seem to be more opportunistic in the winter as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for my bamboo rod to arrive :(
ReplyDeleteHow about you boys? No fishing lately?
Here in Korea, It has been a long cold winter this year.
ReplyDeleteThe valley is enveloped in snow.
vary jealous...ㅎㅎ
I'm sorry to hear that Joon. But I'm sure built-up anticipation will make your next trip that much special.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to be envied by avid fishermen...even though weather is the only factor...
I sort of shut down for the entire winter ... but not by choice. Work around the house has me swamped... I feel like I've been painting, patching, fixing around the house for weeks. You know that warm feeling when you walk into a fly shop? I now get that same feeling walking into a Home Depot now. I'd rate myself a C- as a handy man, and approaching home improvement in the designer craftsman way really doesn't work that well on large surfaces... takes 5 times more time with questionable results. For the first time in my fishing life, I am going through a real period of fishing abstinence, and I can say with certainty, it sucks.
ReplyDeleteMy advice to you is sanding. Master the art of sanding and sand anything you do before the finish coat. It will be "night and day" difference.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing for my parents' house soon after the college and the warm that warm feeling you are referring to when you go to Homedepot, particularly at the power tool and hardware section? I guarantee you that such feeling will disappear by the time winter is over.
I can't believe you already are fishing. Isn't it supposed to be cold there?
ReplyDeleteNo, not at all. This has to be one of the mildest winter.
