A Great Fishing Report

I recently came across a fishing report from Blake on their site, "Illinois Wisconsin Fishing" and was refreshed by the concise, generous, and thoughtful nature of the report. There seems to be thousands of fishing reports out there on even more blogs, but once in a while you see a good one like this. Thanks for a great report Blake & Team.

Exploiting flow & frequency of vortices, use of fins, gills, & scales, and extracting energy from surrounding & form...good reading. It will give you a basis for the phrase “fish don’t’ swim, they’re swum”.

Tying Glass Bead Flies by Joe J. Warren

Now that I have a glass rod, tying some glass bead flies to match it. This is a great unique book that shows glass bead flies. Hard to find but great book to have.

얼마전에 뜻밖에도 구슬 가계에서 이 책을 발견해서 샀는데, 아주 특이한 책입니다. Glass bead 를 사용하는 훅을 자세하게, 그리고 다양하게 보여줍니다. casting 할때 돌에부딪치면 깨지는것 빼고는 유리 구슬을 아주 좋아 합니다.

I read this book recommended to me by Mr. Bae, and it's one I definately recommend to all my friends. Great perspective on fishing, friendship, and our journey through life as fishermen. Excellent reading.

“There may come a day when I do not care to fish anymore. That day is not here yet, but it could happen. Just as I outgrew the Redneck Way, I find that I do not much like to go to the streams in Pennsylvania and Maryland where Dick introduced me to trout fishing. I prefer the rivers out West or the saltwater flats in the Keys or on the Gulf Coast. And sometimes when I am in the West or on the coast, I feel like I have had enough after a day or two. Anything is possible in the life of a man if he lives long enough. Even maturity.”

Why We Miss - article by James Card

I was reading the Ducks Unlimited article from our friend James called “Why We Miss” on shooting, and although I don't hunt (waterfowler), I found it really interesting how much I can relate to it… what I mean is I can apply the same thought process to fishing. Now, I’m no expert fisherman by any means, but I do like fishing a great deal, and I think about it enough to now know a little about it. Enough that I can apply problem solving principles. I really enjoyed reading this article from James ... check it out (link below). Hum... I wonder if James is missing good kimchi by now.

Because we like tying, interest in birds comes naturally...or at least their feathers. This was given to me by my friend Soboro (thank you). This book was sponsored by LG, who knew that their CEO was such a fan of bird watching. Nice.

I picked this up at Trout & Grouse. It's the most comprehensive book on Trout I have ever seen. A must own book for all anglers.

good people writing great books.

I am always very happy to discover books like these & to read about the people who write them. These are specialized books for a very small reader base, especially in a place like Korea. I admire the writers who labor through the writing & research, bear the burden of knowing that commercial success in not in the horizon (from the start), and yet continue on and put out books like this. They know that a small group of people out there will appreciate this greatly, people like me. Thank you.
